What we do
Configure and maintain the web server running Mac OS X, Apache, Perl, PHP, mySql, etc. Backup the server every other day. MySql is managed through phpMyAdmin.

What you do
- Make sure your site content complies with ePHI & HIPAA
- Learn to manage your site
- based on pmwiki like ricsweb2 or
- Learn and write your own codes: HTML/Perl/PHP/JavaScript
- Update your site by:
- Upload files to the server via FTP
- Edit pages via the Wiki interface
Guidelines
- Choose an URL
- Generic names are discouraged, i.e. labs.bwh.harvard.edu
- More appropriate names would be: your_lab.bwh.harvard.edu, project_name.bwh.harvard.edu, etc
- Second-level domain names like www.your_lab.com are also supported
- Register your URL
- Sites with bwh.harvard.edu or partners.org name can be registered with RICS
- Second-level domain names must be registered with a Domain name registrar.
After registering your domain name
- Login to your domain registrar's website (contact your registrar if you are not sure how to do it).
- Change the technical contact to domainadmin@partners.org.
- Point the DNS to PHS
auth1.dns.partners.org. 155.52.254.30
auth2.dns.partners.org. 155.52.254.31 - Contact RICS to complete the setup
- Design and compose your web site. Make sure your default (home) page is named index.html or index.htm
- Upload your web pages - Only web site related files are allow to be uploaded to the server, ABSOLUTELY no personal files.
- Backup your data - We recommend that you always keep a copy of your latest web pages on a local computer.
- We reserve the right to remove ANY offensive or inappropriate material without notice.
- Please take in consideration the BWH Website Policies when designing the website.
